This afternoon we spent a few hours at an Ethiopian Adoptive Families fellowship group nearby. Besides the fact that the families are just FUN to be around and the kids all have a great time together, our conversations there (with families we had mostly never met in person) reminded me and Kirk of what God has called us to in our new ministry together, and why we must move forward with gusto in establishing and developing "We Have Room," our adoption advocacy campaign and ministry.
Getting the opportunity to meet so many of you in person is so rewarding. So often nowadays, we will be in a store or restaurant (well, we're not really regulars at restaurants anymore, unless Taco Bell counts for something...$14 for a family of 8...That's heroic, my friends. But I digress...) or mall or parking lot or church or school, and a stranger will come up to us and say, "I recognize you guys from your blog that so-and-so told me about and so I've been following it for months and you guys are so inspiring!"
Nearly every day, we receive emails and blog comments where we are told in so many words that we have inspired them in some way. Here is a sampling of what we so often hear:
- "You guys have inspired us to consider adopting, even though we already have X number of children."
- "You guys have inspired us to adopt two kids at once instead of just one."
- "You guys have inspired us to adopt an older child, instead of the newborn we were imagining."
- "You guys have inspired us to throw caution to the wind and do something we never planned to do...adopt."
- "Your faith has inspired us."
- "You guys are like rock stars to us." (That's the most humbling one yet.)
- "Your journey has given us faith and hope."
- "Because you guys have done it, we know that we can."
And so forth. You get the picture.
But honestly, it's YOU, you loyal blog readers and stalkers :) that inspire US. We are INSPIRED BY YOU.
We want nothing more from our web site and blog than to have other families walk this road after us, charting out their own yet-to-be-walked-on road to adoption. THAT, my blog readers, IS INSPIRING TO US.
So, a year and a half after our first blog, we say humbly and loudly:
THANK YOU FROM THE DEPTHS OF OUR SOULS.
Because of your inspired souls, we have found our life's calling. So until the day we die, we thank you.
Truest Blessings and Peace to you all, and Two Souls' Worth of Gratitude,
heidi & kirk weimer

OK we are AWAA Ethiopia peeps too!!! We are in the Nashville area and we didn't get to come to the fellowship this time b/c we had our 10 year High SChool reunion.
I was just reading your book list. You wrote "My little love bug" that is one of our favorite books! So cute!
Good luck and you and your family are so amazing!!!
Hey Heidi,
I was wondering if your kids are at the Adera orphanage in Addis? I took some pics of a sibling group of three and wondered if they were yours. You can email me for the pics at k.putty@comcast.net. Sorry I don't have your email address. It would be totally neat if I just saw them.
I love you guys and your blog:)!!! As an adoptive Mom, I can understand each and every feeling and just get so excited for you and now, from what I'm reading for those getting on board their own journey into the Fields of the Fatherless....
What I like best about your post, this post to your blog readers..it reminds me of the Body of Christ...how we all stand united in His Body, and, with each family who is united through adoption that Body is just becoming bigger and more complete!!!
Diane...Mama to Joe, Jen, Jana Mei, Jadyn Hua and JOY Hua:)
I have commented a couple of times and lurked quite a bit ... You inspire me also ...I was just at the airport when the Putty's came home and I am also friends w/ the Alexander's (just brought home baby boy in Texas) ... I know I have two children in Ethiopia and as soon as my most recent angel has her surgery we will begin the process to bring home a brother/sister sibling ...
Thanks for sharing so much of your life ...
Also, just to show how small our world is ... We used to go to church @ FBC before moving out here and isn't that where you brother works ???
God is soooooo GOOD ...
I just found your blog today after searching youtube ET adoption videos. Wow! Your story is spectacular to say the least. My family is adopting from ET (paperchase process) and involved with an East TN adoption support group. Would love to meet you guys sometime! We live in Knoxville...not too far away. Our group met on Saturday and we have 13+ families involved. It is amazing. This is a movement going on that inspires us all to be better human beings.
We are also a part of that fellowship group and love attending...We're using AGCI and my big sis just used CWA to get her 4 yr. old (have you check out her blog lately, he is adorable)My sister came home from Ethiopia that day so we were unable to attend...WE've made all the others and can't wait to actually meet you guys....WE'll be going to Tracy's house next time, Kristi
How cool is that, that God has let you see the impact and influence that He has given you...on this side of heaven, I'd say that rocks.
Bless you in your ministry...I pray someday to be able to say the same thing...hoping to be a Kingdom influence and an impact in this dark world.
Nice to meet you!
