I should have known! Things seemed to have calmed down a bit from the financial drama of last month. Everything seemed to be going well. I was actually just thinking yesterday how grateful I am to have had no problems with my Saturn VUE (my orange baby!). I am thankful that we have never had to have major repairs on it, and, while we are snug with our family of five filling up the car's five seats, I am grateful to have my car and that it runs! Well, that is, it RAN.
While running errands today with my kids on their first official day of summer break (YES!), my formerly reliable car started acting funny. Well, it wasn't really funny, but the car did make a little bit of a chuckling sound as it QUIT RESPONDING TO THE GAS PEDAL. Luckily, I was closeby to my sister's job, and her boyfriend, Nathan, just happened to be stopping by. Being the car know-it-all that he is, he drove my car around to see what he thought could be going on. "Looks like you have a transmission fluid leak...Not too big of a deal." GREAT, I thought. We can manage a small repair, even if it means breaking out the ole' stinkin' credit card. But, hey, what are you gonna' do?
Anyway, the car got towed and Nathan drove me and my 3 wonderful trooper children to Kirk's office to wait with him until he could get off work. Saturday morning, Kirk calls me from worship rehearsal to tell me that he just talked to the car repair shop and, lo and behold, it's not such a small repair after all. We need a new transmission! So, within a month's time, both mine and Kirk's seemingly reliable cars have totally kicked the bucket.
So, here we are again...Needing your prayers to cover us! This journey to adoption is so exciting, but it definitely comes with a huge share of attacks, obstacles, and resistance. The attacks are so blatant that it's almost ridiculous. We really need some prayer warriors who can cover us with their prayers. Also, we need some absolute tangible aid from somewhere or something, as we are now full-swing in the adoption process and now need either a new car or new transmission. Please pray for us. We sincerely covet your prayers over us and for us. We saw God miraculously provide $3000 at our yard sale last weekend. Well, now we need a few thousand for either a new car or a new transmission. Please pray for serious favor to be upon us and accompany us. There are a lot of people with resources at their disposal and we are just asking God to have favor move upon us from those with whom we come into contact.
We thank you so much for your prayers and need them more and more every day. I was telling Kirk tonight that these attacks are so ridiculous. Not ridiculous because God allows them, but because they're just so lame and they're NOT going to defeat us or make us quit! These attacks just make us fight all the more harder for our babies. We are determined and will not give up. One of my first reactions after finding out the news about my car was "Is that all you've got, Satan?" Seriously...We are COVERED in protection by the Blood of Jesus. We have His favor, His defense, His provision, His covering. ALL Satan can do is attack our cars and finances??? Give me a break. He is so lame. And HE IS WASTING HIS TIME ON US! We will not be defeated.
We are praying about what we are to do logistically with our car situation. But, truth be told, there is really nothing WE can do! We don't have the resources for a repair right now, moreless a minivan, so anything that happens will have to be straight from the Lord.
You know, the more we are attacked, the more God gets glory. The more we are confirmed in our steps. And the more we get to experience God's miracles! So, BRING IT ON. You make a fool of yourself, Satan.
